Haslemere Musical Society's Autumn and Winter Programme confirmed!
The 2026 / 2027 season for HMS has been confirmed and looks like it will feature something that is sure to pique everyone's interests.
Starting in November at St Christopher's Church, the orchestra will play the following pieces:
Mendelssohn, Overture : A Calm Sea and a Prosperous Voyage
Glinka, Kamarinskaya
Mozart, Horn Concerto No. 4 (Soloist HMS's Principal Horn player, Roger Doulton)
Haydn, Symphony no.103, Drum Roll
Then for the Christmas concert in December we will move to Haslemere Hall for a rousing set of pieces:
Brahms, Ein Deutsches Requiem
Sullivan, Overture di Ballo
Heinrich Schütz, Selection from Christmas Oratorio (Historia Der Geburt Jesu Christi)
Carols arr. Ledger and Willcocks

An exciting programme of sessions have been organised for HMS's Summer Sessions in 2026.
There are three orchestral sessions:
Details of our June 2026 programme:Mon 8th June – Haydn Symphony No. 103 and Beethoven Romance in G for violin
Mon 15th June – Schumann Symphony No. 4
Mon 22nd June - Bizet Symphony No. 1
All of our Summer Sessions take place in St Christopher's Church (Christopher's Green, GU27 1DD)We make a small charge for each session to cover the cost of music and venue hire of £10pp. Please bring a stand with you.

The Haslemere Musical Society's May Concert is an interesting mix of works with an English theme and links to folklore.
There is a good number of English composers - Eric Coates, Clive Osgood, George Richford, Vaughan Williams and Edward Elgar as well as Australian born Percy Grainger.
The main work is Elgar's The Black Knight.
This programme is guaranteed to please and charm.The conductor is James Ross

- HMS Spring Concert (Chorus, Orchestra)

The Haslemere Musical Society's March concert is designed to herald Spring.
The orchestra will be playing the well-loved Symphony No. 5 in E minor by Tchaikovsky and the choir will sing Rutter's collection of songs entitled The Sprig of Thyme.
The concert will also have works by Ireland ( The Forgotten Rite). Olver (When Christ was born of Mary) and Kerensa Briggs (A Tender Shoot).
The concert is conducted by James Ross

The next Come and Sing event will be held on Saturday 7th February 2026 in St Christopher’s Church, The Green, Haslemere GU27 1DD. All singers, no experience necessary, are invited to join members of HMS chorus and orchestra under the direction of HMS’s Chorus Mistress, Catherine Olver, in Choruses from Handel's Messiah.
Please arrive at 2pm for registration and to collect your score. The afternoon will finish with an informal performance, from 6pm, of the pieces we have been working on and will be accompanied by the orchestra. The performance is open to the public, free of charge..
Entry £20 to include music hire, tea/coffee and cake in the intervals.

We are looking for singers to join the HMS Chorus:
What do we offer?- Free membership for 18-25 year olds
- 3 concerts per year alongside HMS orchestra
- A varied choral repertoire ranging from Bach and Mozart to 20 and 21 century works
